Orpheus loves Eurydice. They're young. They're broke. They have nothing but each other and a half-finished song. Then winter comes, and Hades offers Eurydice a deal she can't refuse: warmth, food, security. She follows him underground.
Orpheus goes after her. With just his faith and a song. Hades agrees to let them both leave, on one condition: Orpheus must walk ahead and never look back to see if she's following.
You already know how this story ends. You'll want to see it anyway. The score mixes folk, jazz and blues into something that won eight Tony Awards and hasn't left Broadway in seven years.
